Terms of service

These terms cover using JLocate, with or without an account, and paying for Pro. If anything here conflicts with your rights as a consumer under UK law, those rights win.

Who runs JLocate

JLocate is run by Maksym Gavrylenko in the UK. In these terms “we” means JLocate and the person who runs it, and “you” means the person using it. The privacy notice says what data JLocate keeps and how to download or delete it.

What a result is, and what it is not

JLocate checks a vacancy against published visa rules and the facts you give it. A result is information to help you decide where to spend your time. It is not legal or immigration advice, and it does not predict what the Home Office or an employer will decide. For advice on your own case, speak to an adviser regulated by the Immigration Advice Authority, or a solicitor.

Rules, salary thresholds and the register of licensed sponsors change. Each figure shows the date it was checked and we correct what goes out of date, but a figure can be wrong until we do. Check the official source linked from each result before you rely on it.

JLocate is not an employer, a recruiter or a visa sponsor, and is not connected to the Home Office or to any employer on the board. Each board job is taken from the employer’s own public advert, and you apply on the employer’s site. A job on the board, or a result saying a route looks possible, is not a promise of an interview, a job, sponsorship or a visa.

Your account

The site works without an account. An account keeps your data across devices, and you need one for Pro. You must be 16 or over to open one. Use an email address you can read, keep your password to yourself and do not share the account; what is done under it is your responsibility. You can download everything or delete the account on the Account page at any time.

Using JLocate fairly

Use JLocate for your own job search, or to help someone with theirs. Do not:

  • copy the board, the register search or other parts of the site in bulk, or send automated requests beyond what search engines do
  • try to reach another person’s account or data, or to break, overload or get round the limits of the site
  • paste text you have no right to share, or keep more personal data about recruiters than you need to follow up

We may suspend or close an account that does these things. Where we can, we give notice first and the chance to download your data.

Pro

Pro adds private checks of any vacancy you paste and the Home Office outlook for your nationality, as the Pricing page describes. It costs £6 a month, £15 for three months or £36 a year. The price shown at checkout is the one you pay, and it includes any VAT.

  • Payment. Stripe takes the payment when you subscribe and at the start of each new period. Your card details go to Stripe, not to JLocate.
  • Renewal. The plan renews automatically for the same length, at the same price, until you cancel.
  • Cancelling. Cancel at any time from the Account page, through Stripe’s billing portal. Pro stays on to the end of the period you paid for, and you are not charged again.
  • Refunds. A first subscription is refunded in full if you ask within 14 days of paying. That covers your legal right to cancel a new online service within 14 days, without the deduction for days already used that the law would allow. Later payments are refunded only if Pro was not provided as described or the law gives you a right to cancel.
  • Changes. If the price or what Pro includes changes, the change reaches you only at a renewal at least 30 days after we tell you, and you can cancel before it does.
  • If we stop. If we stop offering Pro, or close your account when you have not broken these terms, we refund the part of any period you paid for and did not have.

What belongs to whom

The site’s text, design and code belong to JLocate. The visa rules, going rates, Home Office statistics and the register of licensed sponsors are Crown copyright, used under the Open Government Licence. Job adverts belong to the employers who published them: a board job quotes the facts and the sponsorship sentence, sums up the rest in JLocate’s own words and links to the original. What you type or paste stays yours. You allow JLocate to store it and run checks on it for you, and for nothing else.

If something goes wrong

We provide JLocate with reasonable care and skill. If Pro is not provided as described, you are entitled to have it put right or, where that is not possible, a refund for the time it was not.

The site may sometimes be unavailable, for maintenance or because something failed. We work to keep it running but cannot promise it always will be.

If we break these terms or fail to use reasonable care, we are responsible for loss you suffer that was a foreseeable result. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable, for loss to a business, or for what an employer or the Home Office decides. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow to be limited.

Ending

You can stop using JLocate whenever you like, and deleting your account ends a Pro plan at once. We may change or close parts of the free site at any time; if we close Pro, the section above applies.

Changes to these terms

When these terms change, the new version appears here with a new date. A change that affects a Pro plan you already pay for follows the rule for changes above. Other changes apply from the date shown.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring a claim in the courts of England and Wales or, if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, in the courts there. If you live outside the UK, you keep any protection the consumer law of your own country gives you.
