There are two ways to get a visa check on a vacancy, and which one applies depends on where you found the job.
Jobs on the board are checked already
Every vacancy on the JLocate board shows its check to anyone, with or without an account: whether the employer is on the Home Office register of licensed sponsors, which occupation code the role falls under, and whether the salary reaches the threshold that applies to you. Add your profile and the check uses your own salary rate, such as the new-entrant rate for recent graduates.
A job from anywhere else: paste the text
A vacancy you found on LinkedIn, Indeed, Glassdoor, in a recruiter’s email or on an employer’s careers page can be checked privately with Pro. Select the whole advert, from the title to the last line about right to work, and paste it into the box on the Check a vacancy screen. The text is read for the title, the employer, the location, the pay, the hours and any sentence about sponsorship, and you review every field before the check runs. The result is private to your account.
Why JLocate does not read your links
Links are read only when JLocate posts a job to the board, and only where the site allows it:
- Reed, through Reed’s own Jobseeker API.
- Employers who run their careers site on Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workable, Recruitee or Personio, through those systems’ public job-board feeds.
- Any other careers page, read once, with JLocate identifying itself, and only if the site’s robots.txt allows it.
LinkedIn, Indeed, Glassdoor, TotalJobs and CV-Library are never read: their terms forbid automated access. Copying the text takes ten seconds and gives the same result.
Why the employer still matters most
Whichever way the vacancy arrives, the employer is looked up on a copy of the Home Office register of licensed sponsors. A brand name is not a licence: “Monzo” is not on the register, “Monzo Bank Ltd” is. The review step offers the registered entity in one click, and a vacancy whose employer holds no licence cannot sponsor anyone, however warmly it welcomes international candidates.
